Sailfish Fishing & Dorado report in Punta Cana

Now it is the best time of the year to fish for sailfish and dorados, last week was a very successful fishing week, our boats hat a large group of sailfishes caught 20 of them were release by our mate and captains, dorados are very common at this time of the year we caught 35 of them in one of our fishing trip last week. Our captain and mates were very happy because they made a good income with the dorados and tips.\\

Punta Cana Fishing Charter with Philip A. Kaiser

If you are looking to go fishing in Punta Cana, look no farther.

Having fished from Alaska to the East Coast, I know that picking a charter boat can be a tricky business. My first fishing trip in Punta Cana landed me on a crowded boat with only two fish landed, neither of which were mine. I never even touched a pole. This is the price I paid the price for not doing my homework and simply picking a boat from the advice of our resort.

My second visit to Punta Cana would land me in a much better deal, I decided to do some homework and follow the advice of some of the better travel forums. My final choices was to book a private charter through www.fishinpuntacana.com. Divided between some family and friends, the price was awesome and was cheaper than if we went joined another group and paid by the person. I would recommend to anyone headed down there with more than 3 people to simply spend the money to charter your own boat, it was a night and day difference. Group trips with new people can be fun too, but having our private charter really added something to the experience.

After getting some great deals at their shop landside, we headed to the boat and headed out. (They did not start the clock until the boat was literally underway. This was awesome because it allowed us to be relaxed and schedule free.)

After a short cruise out, we spent the afternoon trolling for Marlin, Dorado, and Tuna. We landed 18 Dorado, 1 Tuna, and fought an 8ft white tip oceanic shark all the way up to the boat. (Too dangerous to land it.) We were even fortunate enough to cruise through a school of dolphins that came right to the boat.  Needless to say, we had a blast. Our five hour charter slowly turned into six and longer because the fishing was so hot and we were all having such a good time. It was one of my most memorable fishing days that I can recall and that is a tough thing to say after spending 12 summers fishing in Alaska. (side note: Much more fun to fish in flip-flops and shorts than waders and long johns.) The staff landside was awesome and our crew on the boat was even better. I am not sure who was having a better time, them, or us, but we all had a complete blast together.

‘Not only would I recommend these guys to anyone asking, I am planning to return myself as soon as I get back down there.

Tight lines and cold beers.
